Position Summary:

A Material Handler supports the Shipping & Receiving Lead and the incoming and outbound processing of material, equipment, parts and finished goods, timely receipt and storage of material and parts in inventory, storage or routing of material quality documentation, maintaining inventory integrity through appropriate cycle counts and security procedures, selecting the most cost effective mode of transportation for customer shipments, act as the key point of contact for logistics personnel, common carriers and delivery drivers with Christensen Arms, resulting in superior customer satisfaction, improved logistics costs, high supplier quality and complete availability of material. The Material Handler performs tasks and day to day activities as assigned by the Logistics Lead or Supply Chain Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in receiving shipments from logistics carriers, ensuring that all required documents (First Article Inspections, Certificates of Compliance, Packing lists, FFL’s, etc.) are included.
  • Assist in the inspection of all shipments for correct quantities and any potential damage. Immediately report any discrepancies to management / logistics carrier / supplier. Provide information required for any claims documentation to the Shipping & Receiving Lead.
  • Assign and log batch and lot numbers (LNAA) to material and receive against purchase orders in the ERP. Forward all quality related documents and associated copies of packing lists to Quality Department for record retention.
  • Delivery materials to point of use, inventory cage and / or requestor. Ensure part numbers and quantities for delivery are correct. Follow any special handling instructions.
  • Pull material following First In First Out (FIFO) methodology. Review all frozen material for expiration dates prior to issuance.
  • Prepare Finished Goods (FG) and Work In Process (WIP) for shipment in accordance with customer specifications or methods in accordance with good commercial practices.
  • Ensure required Certificates of Compliance (CoC’s) have been presented by the Quality Department with the part for shipment and the CoC’s and packing lists are correct. Include well identified and visible document “packet” with the shipment.
  • Create the invoice, close out Job Traveler (JT) and / or debit inventory to close out shipment. Forward appropriate documents to Quality Department and Accounts Receivable for record retention.
  • Create appropriate Fed Ex and UPS labels, bills of lading and affix to shipments. Schedule LTL carriers for larger boxes or crates. Ensure lowest total logistics costs given required delivery schedule.
  • Perform ABC based cycle counts as specified by the ERP. Make required adjustments to inventory in a timely fashion.
  • Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Logistics Lead and the Supply Chain Manager.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Requirements:

  • Entry level position.
  • Forklift operation certified preferred.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with Fed Ex and UPS shipping systems preferred.

Success Factors:

  • 100% on time completion of cycle counts as specified by the ERP.
  • 100% daily completion of all shipping, receiving and invoicing paperwork.
  • 100% on time delivery of planned material to point of use within the factory.
  • ZERO instances of shipments missing customer required documentation.
