Position Summary:

The Engineering Intern will be a support to the Manufacturing Engineering Team and is required to have a strong work ethic and eagerness to increase in or learn new skills. Knowledge of engineering principles as well as hands on experience with engineering and/or manufacturing processes will be a quality of the person filling the role. Experience with composites design and/or manufacturing, as well as experience in the aerospace industry is preferred but not required. The Engineering Intern will assist in the product transition from design to production of composite structures, as well as lead or assist improvements with production contracts and other responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform tool design using Computer Aided Design (CAD) software
  • Create or revise work instructions
  • Create or revise pattern cutting machine cut files
  • Recommend and implement lean manufacturing or Six Sigma improvements
  • Assist with various production processes and recommend or make improvements
  • Perform or assist with various other responsibilities within the Engineering Department

Knowledge, Skills & Requirements:

  • Required minimum 3rd or 4th year undergraduate or graduate level student pursuing a degree in an applicable engineering field (Mechanical/Manufacturing/Production Engineering or other)
  • Required CAD modeling experience (Catia experience preferred)
  • Required experience in manufacturing environment
  • Preferred composites manufacturing experience
  • Preferred Lean and/or Six Sigma experience or certification
  • Preferred ability to use Autocad or another 2D CAD program
  • Preferred technical writing skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Due to export restrictions, US Citizenship is required
