Description

Position Summary: The Accounting Controller will: handle high-level accounting, managerial accounting, and oversee financial activities of the company; will manage and supervise all aspects of accounting from payroll to tax compliance; report to the CFO, and will assist with development of internal control policies, procedures, and financial planning as needed.

Pay range: $60,500 to $75,000
Location: Gunnison, UT

Success Factors: The successful Controller will be able to: create controls and reports for cost controls for each of the operating departments of the company; conduct SQL queries to analyze transactions and costs and report on both; reduce the accounting workload carried by the CFO; carryout standards audits with corrective actions and follow up; operate successfully within the Infor VISUAL ERP environment; provide direction to all departments on best accounting practices in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of accounting; billing, financial statements, general ledger, cost accounting, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting, tax compliance, inventory accounting, cost accounting, revenue recognition, and various special analyses.
  • Monitor cash and funding balances, keep an organized filing system of all accounts, statements, transactions, payments, and debts.
  • Organize information and statements for audits and both internal and external auditors.
  • Complying with all local, state, and federal laws regarding finances, tax filings, and reporting.
  • Ensure company complies with all additional legal and regulatory requirements. Additional controller duties as needed.
  • Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Provides status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data.

 

Knowledge

  • Intermediate knowledge of Economics to evaluate cost/benefit analysis using financial calculations and software.
  • Advanced knowledge of Accounting practices, especially GAAP and cost accounting for the purpose of preparing accurate financial reports which adhere to applicable standards.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office (advanced knowledge of Excel) to prepare documents for presentations and reports and to analyze information.
  • Intermediate knowledge of ERP systems to be able to use the software appropriately for structuring and reporting on financial data.
  • Advanced mathematical reasoning to be able to calculate statistical variations in costs to analyze possible cause and effect.
  • Advanced knowledge of the role of Finance in the business functions to understand the impact of capital and operating expenses.
  • Intermediate knowledge of SQL to be able to create database queries incorporating multiple tables and join types to analyze and report cost information.

 

Skills & Certifications:

  • CPA preferred
  • Typing 60 WPM

 

Abilities

  • Excellent ability to communicate verbally.
  • Well-developed ability to double-check work to ensure limited errors.
  • Ability to work in structured (assigned and defined) and unstructured teams (impromptu and temporary).
  • Excellent ability to communicate in writing.

Experience

  • 2 + years of overall combined accounting and finance experience.
  • Experience with preparing financial statements.
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process.
  • Experience with inventory management and controls.
  • Master’s Degree preferred.

Pay range: $60,500 to $75,000
