Description
Position Summary:
The Project Engineer has responsibility for development of designs and processes to support the production of high quality products at ACTA.  This position will work in the Project Engineering group in designing tooling, drawings, cut files, and other items to support the implementation of new parts or programs.  A Project Engineer will be expected to take the lead on small to mid-size projects, and will need to be able to work directly with other departments in the company, and with customers.
 
Responsibilities:
 
  • Assist in tooling design for simple geometry parts to meet customer requirements
  • Support other engineers by developing drawings for inspection, production, or machining
  • Develop cut files for prepreg kits (Patternsmith and Design Concept 2D software)
  • Assist in preparation of engineering bills of materials or technical specifications for production
  • Assist Planners in creating work control travelers and visual planning
  • Work within specified budget and time constraints
  • Develop high caliber tool designs, using advanced modeling techniques in Catia or Solidworks
  • Take a lead role for small to medium sized projects, assisting in schedules and due dates
  • Supervise other engineers while supporting project due dates and budgets
  • Ensure that all customer requirements will be met through ACTA's design and mfg. processes
  • Ensure that designs are usable and effective for production (Human Factor)
  • Work with engineering and QA personnel on corrective action and root cause analysis
  • Assist in cost estimates on new programs or capital equipment as required
 
 
Knowledge, Skills & Requirements:
 
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Mfg. Engineering desired,  Associates degree in a technical field such as Drafting or 5 years related industry experience may be considered
  • Solid and surface modeling experience (Catia or Solidworks preferred)
  • Excellent reading comprehension skills to interpret customer and industry specifications
  • Ability to understand engineering drawings, experience with GD&T preferred
  • Must be comfortable using Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
  • Effective communication skills, including the ability to clearly explain technical issues
  • Ability to work in a team environment under the direction of other engineers
  • Focus on continuous improvement both personally and for ACTA
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Mfg. Engineering (Master's Degree preferred)
  • Minimum 3 years on the job experience at ACTA or elsewhere in a related industry
  • Proficient in solid and surface modeling (Catia or Solidworks preferred)
  • Excellent reading comprehension skills to interpret customer and industry specifications
  • Ability to understand complex engineering drawings, familiarity with GD&T
  • Must be comfortable using Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
  • Must be able to effectively learn and use the Infor Visual ERP software
  • Effective communication skills, including the ability to clearly explain technical issues
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
