Description

Job Responsibilities:

  • Minimal supervision to design, development and testing of new composite products
  • Minimal supervision to design of complex composite layup molds and complex assembly fixtures
  • Under supervision participates in engineering activities to define product requirements, create designs, perform simulation testing and validation of final hardware components
  • Performs mechanical component development and integration, while using Computer-Aided-Design concepts
  • Solves a variety of mechanical engineering issues and improves existing designs
  • Implement and improve composite manufacturing processes
  • Performs value analysis during the product design phase while optimizing product development costs
  • Develop program engineering plans ensuring all aspects of the design, manufacturing, and testing phases are identified and feasible
  • Use experience to guide the program team to success
  • Reviews the work of other engineers as required
  • Identify and understand project risks, and develop mitigation plans
  • Other responsibilities as assigned
     
  • Skills:
  • Competent in the design of complex composite parts including bonded & bolted composite/metallic assemblies
  • Ability to apply a systematic and analytical approach to problem solving
  • Advanced Skills in CATIA
  • Ability to perform classical analysis using industry standard hand calculation methods
  • Experience in Engineering Simulation using Finite Element structural analysis (FEA) tools Nastran, FEMAP
  • Experienced in the design of composite tooling and assembly fixtures
  • Advanced knowledge and ability to apply core concepts of engineering (mechanics, kinematics, materials science, and structural analysis)
  • Strong understanding of Design For Manufacturing (DFM)
  • Advanced understanding of composite manufacturing processes
  • Ability to explain a range of complex technical information
  • Experienced in engineering drawing generation and GD&T
  • Strong Microsoft Excel user
  • Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills to drive tasks to completion
  • Lead a team of engineers effectively and maintain accountability for milestones
  • Understands the engineering process from concept generation to hardware fabrication, and is able to identify the necessary tasks required for program success
  • Excellent writing and communication skills with ability to create clear and succinct presentations and reports to communicate processes and project results with internal and external customers
  • Experience with composite design and manufacturing processes
  • Ability to draw on past experience to solve engineering challenges in a team environment

Job Specifications:

Education: Degree in Engineering or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations
Years' Experience: 3 to 8 years of relevant experience
