Description

Position Summary

The Quality Engineer I (QE-I) will support the Quality Department in ensuring compliance across all phases of product development and manufacturing. This position plays a critical role in driving continuous improvement initiatives, maintaining high standards of quality, and interfacing with internal teams and external customers to ensure contract and product requirements are consistently met.

Responsibilities

  • Program and operate inspection equipment including Romer Arm (PolyWorks), CMMs, and Faro Laser Tracker (VeriSurf)

  • Develop AS9102-compliant First Article Inspection reports, including key characteristic data

  • Communicate with customers regarding quality concerns and corrective actions

  • Lead and participate in Kaizen events and problem-solving initiatives

  • Monitor, report, and improve upon Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to quality

  • Manage non-conformance processes and corrective/preventive action systems

  • Provide quality assurance support throughout all stages of the product lifecycle—from proposal through production and post-delivery

  • Conduct audits and assessments to ensure compliance with standards including AS9100, ISO9001, and NADCAP

  • Support and participate in DFMEA and PFMEA efforts to identify and mitigate product and process risks

  • Analyze statistical data to support continuous improvement and root cause analysis

  • Provide guidance to quality inspectors and other team members on inspection and testing procedures

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience

  • Strong understanding of GD&T, with the ability to teach others

  • Hands-on experience with CMMs, Laser Trackers, Faro/Romer Arms, and PolyWorks software

  • Knowledge of aerospace quality standards (AS9100, NADCAP), and experience with implementation

  • Familiarity with Lean and Six Sigma methodologies; formal training or certification is a plus

  • Strong communication and organizational skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)

  • U.S. Citizenship required; may be required to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance

  • Reduce scrap rates to less than 1% through collaboration and continuous improvement

  • Achieve annual improvements in first-pass yield by at least 10%
